If you have specific questions, please contact us at 718.623.2250 and we’ll be happy to find the right treatment plan for you.

Please note: Referrals are sometimes needed, but sometimes they are not. Insurance does cover these tests in most situations, but each insurance needs to be checked, and referrals may be required.

  • During a Neurology consult, your vitals are taken, your history is reviewed, tests are ordered, medications are prescribed, and possible treatment options are discussed. Nerve injections are often used in treatments of chronic pain issues like migraines or diseases that cause muscle spasms. Nerve injections can be especially helpful in treating many types of back pain, including pain from “slipped” discs and sciatica.

  • During a headache evaluation, your vitals are taken, your history is reviewed, tests are ordered, medications are prescribed, and possible treatment options are discussed

  • Our headache treatment aims to relieve the pain and discomfort associated with headaches, and may involve a combination of medication, lifestyle changes, and alternative therapies.

Also depending on the type and severity of the headache, treatments may include over-the-counter or prescription medications.

The best treatment approach will depend on the individual patient needs and the underlying cause of the headache.

Depending on the type of headache you have, treatments like trigger point injections for stubborn tension and muscle-related headaches. Botox® injections, CGRPinjections, and infusions may be used to help prevent migraines.

  • Our neurobehavioral therapy service offers a range of treatments to help individuals improve their behavioral and cognitive functioning.

Our experienced clinicians utilize evidence-based techniques to help clients develop coping strategies and improve their overall quality of life.

Injection & Therapies :

  • Botox Therapy for Migraine is a preventative therapy provided for patients who meet certain criteria and are interested in this modality for treating migraines.

  • Trigger Point Injections are used to treat a variety of pain conditions including headaches and neck pain, occipital neuralgia, and other neuralgias.

During treatment, a very fine needle is injected into the trigger point and a special anesthetic solution is injected to provide pain relief by inactivating pain receptors.

Injections are administered by the caring providers in a calm and relaxing environment (usually covered by insurance, but coverage varies).

These procedures take a few minutes in the office.

  • Nerve Blocks are used to treat a variety of pain conditions including headaches and neck pain, occipital neuralgia and other neuralgias.

Injections are administered by the caring providers in a calm and relaxing environment (usually covered by insurance, but coverage varies).

There are many types of nerve blocks. Most commonly used nerve blocks are occipital nerve blocks, supraorbital nerve blocks, and sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) blocks.

A nerve block is an injection of a steroid or other medication around the nerves.

The steroid injected reduces the inflammation and swelling of tissue around the occipital nerves, and local anesthetics may numb the area.

This may in turn reduce pain, and other symptoms caused by inflammation or irritation of the nerves and surrounding structures.

These procedures take a few minutes in the office.

  • CGRP receptor antagonists and monoclonal antibodies against CGRP and its receptor are medications used in the management and treatment of migraine, the sixth-highest cause worldwide of years lost due to disability as per the Global Burden of Disease Study (2013).

These drugs are a valuable agent in the prophylaxis and acute management of migraine and cluster headaches. Aimovig, Emgality, Ajovy, Nurtec, Qulipta are CGRP therapies commonly used at Nervana Neurospa for migraine prevention and acute treatment.

IV Therapies for Migraine-Headache

  • This procedure involves inserting a needle into your vein or muscle, and infusing the formula prescribed by your physician.

An IV infusion delivers medications directly into a muscle or into the tissue under the skin respectively.

Treatments are well tolerated without any adverse reactions.

Sometimes a series of injections are recommended for a satisfactory outcome.

  • Vyepti Infusions - works by blocking a protein in your body called calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP).

This is an FDA-approved infusion medication. In clinical trials, it reduced migraines in 75% of patients treated — and prevented them from coming back in more than a month.

Each infusion therapy lasts approximately half an hour- 1 hour, and it is administered four times a year.

Neurological Testing Program :

  • Nervana Neurospa offers medical testing for a variety of conditions.

Please note: Referrals are sometimes needed, but sometimes they are not. Insurance does cover these tests in most situations, but each insurance needs to be checked, and referrals may be required.

We offer evening hours, and flexible scheduling. Each test takes 30-60 minutes depending on the condition that is being tested for, and results are not available immediately. A follow up appointment is required either with the neurologist at the center, or with your own doctor who will be responsible for reviewing results with you.

Ambulatory and video EEG are tests that evaluate brain activity over 24-72 hours and require that you wear the equipment home. This is a special test that usually requires more authorization from insurance than a routine EEG, but we do offer this service.

We currently offer the following medical tests, described in detail below:

    • EEG (electroencephalogram)

    • VNG (videonystagmography)

    • TCD Test

    • EMG/NCS

  • An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test used to find problems related with the electrical activity of the brain. An EEG tracks and records brain wave patterns. Small metal discs with thin wires (electrodes) are placed on the scalp. These electrodes send signals to a computer to record the results. An EEG is a noninvasive test that records electrical patterns in your brain. The test is used to help diagnose conditions such as seizures, epilepsy, head injuries, dizziness, headaches, brain tumors, brain fog, and sleeping problems.

  • VNG (videonystagmography) testing is used to determine if a vestibular (inner ear) disease may be causing a balance or dizziness problem and is one of the only tests available today that can decipher between a unilateral (one ear) and bilateral (both ears) vestibular loss. VNG testing is a series of tests designed to document a person’s ability to follow visual objects with their eyes and how well the eyes respond to information from the vestibular system. This test also addresses the functionality of each ear and if a vestibular deficit may be the cause of a dizziness or balance problem.

To monitor the movements of the eyes, infrared goggles are placed around the eyes to record eye movements during testing. VNG testing is non-invasive, and only minor discomfort is felt by the patients during testing as a result of wearing goggles.VNG testing is covered by all insurance.

  • TCD is a noninvasive and painless ultrasound technique that uses sound waves to evaluate blood flow (blood circulation) in and around the brain. There is no special contrast or radiation involved in the test.

Physicians recommend this test to determine if there is an abnormality in the blood vessels that is affecting blood flow to the brain.

  • Nerve Condition Studies (NCS) are the first portion of the test typically done before the Electromyography (EMG), where the nerves themselves are tested.

An EMG is a technique used to measure the electrical activity of muscles both at rest and during contraction. It detects the electrical potential generated by muscle cells when the cells are electrically or neurologically activated.

Neurology Services | BODY

  • Our weight management service is through peptide injections that involves a consultation and weekly injections of a combination of Ozempic, anti-nausea medication, and fat burner for two months to aid in weight loss.

  • HBOT is a painless, non-invasive medical therapy that enhances the body’s natural healing process by breathing in 95% + oxygen in a pressurized chamber. This saturates blood cells and tissues with 1,200% more oxygen than normal breathing, giving the body more fuel (oxygen) to work and recover. HBOT optimizes healing at the cellular level, making it a beneficial treatment for a wide variety of conditions and circumstances.
